About our Technology Center

The Technology Center designs and engineers Intero’s high-tech inspection robots, develops the software to operate them and trains our people to use the technology in the field. These compact, battery operated systems are highly integrated and need to operate for long duration in a harsh environment.

To support the growth of our Technology Center in the Netherlands, we are looking for an ambitious Mechanical Design Engineer. You will become part of a close, diverse and multi-disciplinary team that is hand-on, engaged and result-driven. You will be involved in projects from start to finish: defining requirements, conceptual design, technical feasibility, low-level design, component and module testing followed by integration and system-testing. Soon after completing the prototype, you will see the system being taken into production and into the field!

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers of other disciplines to find innovative solutions
  • Participate in the conceptual design phase of new inspection systems
  • Perform simulations / testing as part of technical feasibility checks
  • Work independently on detailed design (3D and 2D CAD)
  • Guide manufacturing process, from RFQ to QC checks
  • Create design documentation & maintain PDM throughout the project
  • Create test plans to verify the design and develop the test environment
  • Assemble & test prototypes and perform sub-system testing
  • Assist with system integration and system validation testing
  • Pro-active to maintain and improve tools and processes
  • Support manufacturing team getting the systems production-ready
  • Support operational team performing the inspection

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or Automotive.
  • 5+ years’ experience within R&D / new product development
  • Experience using SolidWorks incl. PDM
  • CSWP certified (or CSWA certified with ambition to advance)
  • Experience in 3D design incl. motion analysis
  • Experience in stress calculations and simulations
  • Knowledge of design for maintenance & design for manufacturing and assembly
  • Experience in selecting and applying seals in static and dynamic applications
  • Knowledge of CE (machine directive) and/or ATEX directives is a plus.
  • Knowledge of material properties incl. environmental impact (chemical) is a plus
  • Knowledge of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) is a plus
  • Knowledge of pipeline pigging and ILI tools is a plus
  • Hands-on mentality, fast learner
  • Good command of the English language, both spoken and written
