About our Technology Center

The Technology Center designs and engineers Intero’s high-tech inspection robots and develops the software to configure and control these robots as well as the software to process, visualize and analyze the inspection data. To support the growth of our Technology Center in the Netherlands, we are looking for an ambitious Software Engineer LabVIEW.

You will become part of a close, diverse and multi-disciplinary R&D team that is hands-on, engaged and result driven. You will focus on the software that directly interfaces with the hardware; from research lab-testing to equipment used in operations. This requires a multi-disciplinary approach, using your specialist know-how on hardware interfacing, sensor data, signal processing and computer graphics to create functionality ranging from control of an inspection robot to the real time display of inspection data. Sensor data includes everything from simple pressure and temperature sensors to sonar, IMU and acoustics.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers of other disciplines to find innovative solutions
  • Participate in design decisions (architecture) of functionality be implemented in software, embedded software or FPGA
  • Review user requirements, use-cases and translate these to software requirements
  • Design functional architecture and user interface
  • Assist in the development of embedded software and defining interfaces and protocols
  • Take responsibility for the design and development of software applications
  • Create the test environment needed for hardware software integration testing
  • Together with other engineers, test sub-systems and system to verify functionality and performance
  • Manage releases, bugs and issues throughout the R&D development phase
  • After the prototype phase, assist in getting the software production-ready
  • Write design documentation and release documents
  • Support the life cycle of software applications and engage in the feedback loop from users to support continuous improvement cycles

Your profile

  • A bachelor degree in technical computer science, mechatronics or robotics

(or electronics / physics with a strong focus on technical and applied computer science)

  • Proficient with LabVIEW, 3+ year experience
  • Ambition to become Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD)
  • Good understanding of software engineering principles
  • Experience with interfaces and protocols typically used in industrial applications such as RS485, CANBUS, USB 2.0/3.0 and TCP-IP
  • Experience with sensor data, signal processing and data visualization
  • Experience with hardware - software integration
  • Experience with Python and C/C++ programming languages is a plus
  • Knowledge of sensor fusion & Kalman filters is a plus
  • Knowledge of positioning and navigation principles (ROV and/or Robotics) is a plus
  • Knowledge of LabVIEW Queued Message Handler and Actor Framework is a plus
  • Good command of English, both spoken and written
