ENV - High flow sampling 4

Methane emissions represent a significant environmental challenge and are a critical focus area for the industry. As a potent greenhouse gas, methane's impact on climate change is considerable, exceeding that of carbon dioxide over a shorter timeframe. Effectively managing and reducing these emissions is not only a responsibility towards environmental stewardship but also a crucial aspect of operational efficiency and sustainability.

The importance of controlling methane emissions extends beyond environmental considerations. It has profound implications for the industry's public image and regulatory compliance (OGMP 2.0 and upcoming EU Methane Regulation).

As a certified third party, Intero - The Sniffers specializes in the Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) and provides advisory from gap analysis to delivering compliant reports. Our goal is to help you reach your environmental targets and reduce methane emissions sustainably.

During the onsite activities, we had the opportunity to thoroughly discuss the topic of methane emissions as well as relevant measurement methods and devices with the team of Intero - The Sniffers.

How we monitor methane emissions

1. Gap analysis

Starting your methane emissions reduction journey can feel overwhelming. Our experts perform a gap analysis to analyze your current emission situation and create a plan.

2. Identification

Based on the situation, we develop a fit-for-purpose strategy. This can include measurements using FID / PID devices, High Flow Sampling,  or drones or assessing the inventory of sources.

3. Quantification

A team of emission specialists executes field surveys to detect and quantify the emissions. We provide a complete and detailed picture of the whole emission situation per asset, including unintended and intended emissions.

4. Reduction

The final step leads to the continuous reduction of methane emissions. We assess the methane emission figures and develop a baseline by aggregating the methane intensity for each asset. We develop a plan for sustainable improvements so you reach your environmental target.
